Armin Strom Unveils One Week Manufacture Edition

Kristian Haagen

Armin Strom has introduced the One Week Manufacture Edition, a new iteration of its first-ever manufacture movement, following the One Week First Edition from 2023.

Limited to 100 pieces, this model features a highly architectural, openworked movement in a sleek, sporty steel case with an integrated bracelet, presented in grey and anthracite hues. This edition emphasizes the beauty of its uniquely constructed manual calibre by the foregoing colour.

Fifteen years ago, Armin Strom established its own manufacture in Biel, aiming for full independence in watchmaking. The One Week, its first in-house timepiece, was launched in 2008, featuring a symmetrical movement with two barrels for a seven-day power reserve. This milestone marked the start of many innovations for Armin Strom, earning admiration from collectors.

The new One Week Manufacture Edition reimagines this historic calibre with a bold, three-dimensional design. The anthracite PVD-coated mainplate, bridges, and parts are visible through the openworked dial, creating a striking appearance. Founder Serge Michel highlights that collectors now have another chance to own a limited-edition One Week, as only 100 pieces will be produced.

The watch combines a sporty yet classy look with anthracite tones and a symmetrical in-house movement. Its openworked design showcases the movement's kinetic elements on the dial side, featuring a redesigned manual-winding movement with stunning architectural depth. The ARM21 calibre, with two mainspring barrels, provides a seven-day power reserve. The movement's power reserve indicator uses a cone system inspired by pocket watches, adding to its architectural depth.

Performance-wise, the new One Week has an increased oscillating frequency of 3.5 Hz (25,200 vph), offering more stable chronometric performance. The offset hour and minute hands filled with Super-LumiNova are centrally positioned, enhancing aesthetic balance. The watch also features a geometric bridge, a chapter ring with baton indices, and small seconds at 9 o’clock.

Craftsmanship is evident in the hand-finished details, including chamfered and polished bevels, Geneva-striped plates, and polished screws. The anthracite PVD-coated mainplate and bridges blend perfectly with the steel exterior, making the One Week Manufacture Edition a masterclass in haute horlogerie.
